The new designs for the Erin Condren Personal Planner were just released on the Erin Condren website. Unsurprisingly, the page is already crashing due to the overflow of viewers. So I thought I will take some cheeky screenshots to show you what’s new!
They have changed the way you create your planner, now you just click ‘Create your planner’ and go through some steps to finalise it instead of searching for a cover that you like and only then customising the whole thing. I feel this makes much more sense, and is way more planned than previously! Which is funny. Because it’s for a planner.
Firstly, you get to choose your coil. Platinum coil is free and any other coil you have to pay for. I think this is a tiny bit ridiculous but who am Ito judge? A valued customer, that’s who. It’s like the Sims Stuff expansions.
You have a choice between gold, rose gold and black. As I have already expressed my love and excitement for the upcoming neutral theme, I would probably want to go for black. Or platinum. At least that’s free.
Secondly, you get to choose your cover. Now this is made easier as you can choose a theme (floral, metalic, etc). They have added a few new cover designs, and 3 new permanent covers. ‘Permanent?’ – I hear you saying sceptically. Yes, they are permanent but they are suppose to feel leather like. I assume those would not do well with being replaced, perhaps would snap or something. But yes, if you do want to get rid of the selling point of EC (interchangable covers)planners – you now can!
You only get 3 choices here: a lovely turquoise, piggy natural pink, and bright purple.
Once you are satisfied with the exterior you are sent to choose from a few options of what your planner will look like once you’ve had the privilege to open it! This is where it get’s exciting, as EC, FINALLY, introduced the neutral choice, for some people that might not want all those bright and happy colours in their lifes. Like me. I would like to get something a bit more simplified and classier, if you can call it that. I am not sure how classy planners like that really look like. But you get my meaning.
So you still get to choose from vertical, horizontal, or hourly layout. My current planner is vertical, possibly the most popular choice for various reasons. However I am thinking, if I do decide to order this again (it’s bloody expensive, especially getting in UK. God forbid you get customs too, then it’s just ridiculous.) I will probably go for horizontal. I will be sacrificing the satisfaction of sticking in full box stickers that fit perfectly, but I find that I enjoy lined pages more and find it gives my life more structure. Which is, of course, the end goal from the planner. For all of these layouts, you will be able to specify if you want to have it colourful or neutral, and here’s how it’s going to look like:
And how some places would look in comparison to each other:
I do like how they added these watercolour washes on the top of the weekly spread for the colourful version, am kind of sad this is not a thing in my current 2016 planner. But at the same time I am attracted to the simplicity of the Neutral look. I have to admit I wish the dark black would start at the bottom and would gradient towards light grey upwards, but that’s just silly me with my silly preferences. I do think I will get the Vertical version now, I like how the days are numbered there better and it will look tidier. To counteract the added top detail for the colourful weekly layout, EC has added nice details for the monthly layout in the Neutral setting. I do like it. And I do have to say I like the notes better, although they do not differ much. I wish the neutral planner would be cheaper, however, as surely it is cheaper to produce it. I am 100% certain that if they were adding colours instead of neutrals they would ask for the upgrade price. Oh well, business is business.
I am still in two minds about getting it, because it is so expensive, however I know that my current planner is not working out for me. I tend to keep it at home all the time because I feel I cannot take this to work since it’s silly colourful.
Let me know what you guys think of the changes. Do you prefer the colourful design or the neutral? Are you like me and think that horizontal layout might look a bit more tidy than the vertical one? Do you think it’s worth the money? Let me know!
Hope you enjoyed this introduction to EC new planners and thank you all for reading.
