Cohorted July 2016

_DSC0358.jpgAh, Cohorted. My luxurious gift that comes every month, keeping me and my boyfriend happy. Me, because I get my goodies to play with and him because this gift means I’m happier and less likely to moan in general (plus he likes spoiling me, must be this manly need to provide – I’m not complaining). Win-win if I ever saw one.

_DSC0391.jpgJuly must be a good month for the boxes, as this one really did not disappoint, as well as My Little Box. Birchbox just had to go all rogue and be different (aka shit) but in the spirit of friendship let’s not discriminate just yet.

The subscription costs £35 (yikes)

The value of this box is £125.95 (and suddenly it’s all worth it)

Monoi Body Glow 2

NARS

I give this 4  Curiously Supportive Zeuses

_DSC0370.jpg
£25.00

Pro’s

  • I love the tiare flower that sits inside, it’s such a nice touch, looks very luxurious
  • Smells brilliantly.
  • This oil is a result of macerating the Tahitian gardenia flower in refined coconut oil for at least 10 days, transferring the nutrients as well as the scent.
  • Calms and prevents peeling of burnt skint.
  • Smells very calming (doesn’t smell like coconuts, just smells like spa.)

Con’s

  • The only con is with me and not the product, I am just way too lazy to apply oil to my whole body but I will on some rare occasions and I am sure I will love it.

Could alternatively be used as: massage oil

Would I buy it and should you?

I don’t think this is something I need necessarily but rather something I want, so even though I wouldn’t buy you know I am super happy to get this, and it’s from NARS and I love NARS.

Sculpt and Glow Palette

HD Brows

I give this 4 Curiously Supportive Zeuses

Untitled  Untitled Untitled Untitled

_DSC0379.jpg
£45 (do not mind that tiny dent in it I accidently pinched it, my bad!)

Pro’s

  • Mine is in light-medium which is cool because I am as pale as it gets
  • The last HD Brows product I got in my previous Cohorted was so good it made it into my June Favourites! So I have high hopes
  • It looks gorgeous and is quite compact
  • I need a new contour product as my lovely Sleek one is getting patchy 😦
  • I looooove the highlight, it blend it so nicely
  • There is so much product and it’s so pigmented I feel this would last you ages

Con’s

  • I know I would love this so much more if it wasn’t cream but I really want to get along with this. What do you guys use to blend cream blush/highlight/contour in?

Could alternatively be used as:  war paint

Would I buy it and should you?

I am a powder kind of gal so no, not for that price! But again, so happy to get it. Please let me know how you tackle these, ama noob regrading cream! It suggest using the foundation brush followed by a stippling one. Any other preferences?

Soothing Cleansing Oil

Bobbi Brown

I give this 4 Curiously Supportive Zeuses

Untitled  Untitled Untitled Untitled

_DSC0362.jpg
£10

Pro’s

  • Feel very nice
  • With jasmine flower and kukui nut oil (what a fun name!), olive, sunflower, jojoba oils and other goodies
  • Soothes your skin and dissolves all the left over make up
  • I will never be annoyed by getting cleansing products because the girl can only buy that many wet wipes

Would I buy it and should you?

Will need to give this a proper try. If it actually calms my skin and reduces redness I might fall in love with this. The full size is 200ml which is a decent deal, however I came to accept that pretty much everything in this box is expensive, but that’s why it’s so nice to have a go at it!

Blending Sponge

The Vintage Cosmetifc Company

I give this 4 Curiously Supportive Zeuse

Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled
_DSC0378.jpg
£5.95 pretty pretty pretty

Pro’s

  • Actually affordable!
  • Always up for trying Beauty Blender alternatives. Have tried quite a few already, and I might even say that Beauty Blender was not the best of them! Let me know if you’d like a post about sponges.
  • Pretty baby pink and adorable packaging

Con’s

  • Sorry, haven’t tried this yet so can’s say for sure, but from my first impressions it feels a bit too dense but all might change once you soak it! Will keep you updated.

Alternatively could be used as: a cat toy, as we already established with my kittens that keep stealing my sponges and playing with them. I mean I get it, they are bouncy and fun. I get to play with them in the morning, so they might think it’s only fair for them to play during the day. What’s mama’s it’s theirs.

Would I buy it & should you?

If it’s good, hell yeah! Much cheaper than most of the sponges, and to be fair, how expensive is it to produce a sponge? Dish sponges are dead cheap so I think Beauty Blender company ears so much profit that it’s a bit unfair.

Mineral Lipstick in Envy

Bellapierre

This deserves 5 Curiously Supportive Zeuses

Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled

_DSC0371.jpg
£20

Pro’s

  • It glides on so effortlessly that it might be one of the easiest applications I have ever experienced
  • Very wearable for once!
  • Nice pigmentation
  • Has Vitamin C & E – whaaat, whoop.

Con’s

  • Would not stay for ages but it’s not a liquid lipstick, I think we might have gotten a bit spoiled with those!
  • The packaging feels a bit cheap but the product is so nice I don’t even care

Would I buy it and should you?

I love love love this. I don’t suit very warm lipsticks but I do really  like this one. It’s so comfortable and it’s a beautiful nude that’s okay for any season really but will be amazing for autumn, which let’s face it is everyday in UK regardless.

It looks much darker on the actual lipstick so here’s a swatch.

Gel Lipliner in Cinnamon

Bellapierre

This deserves 5 Curiously Supportive Zeuses

Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled

_DSC0375.jpg
£20 – bit much for a liner, but that’s the sad reality that the pencils are now just as expensive as lipsticks

Pro’s

  • I will always welcome gel lip liners with open arms!
  • This is perfect for the lipstick too (if you blend it in a bit as it’s darker)
  • Really nice formulation and colour

Con’s

  • Why oh why people still make pencils that need to be sharpened? Do they not know I am lazy??!

Would I buy it and should you?

Yaaaaaaas! Give.me.all.the.lip.pencils! <– every girl ever.

Here’s a little swatch of it next to the lipstick

VERDICT

Are you kidding me? A good nude lipstick, a nude lip liner, NARS body oil, a face palette that costs almost 50 quid and a cleanser to take it all off? All from brands that are amazing? All more expensive than you can afford? You tell me what’s not to love here. I really cannot complain, but if I had to point out a few things is just that it would be lovely to have the contour palette in powder and not cream, but hey, I said gun to my head. I am actually so so pleased and can defiantly say this is the best Cohorted yet, where every item is going to be used.

I believe the box was:

WHY, NO, STAPH!

REALLY POOR

MEH

SETTLING ON PASSABLE

ABOVE AVERAGE

REALLY ENJOYABLE

AWESOME

PERFECTION IN A BOX

What are your thoughts on the box? Which one would you like to try the most?

Hey there! Welcome to my Everything Blog. You know those lovely organised people who have a niche? Well that's not me, my blog is just like my mind, jumping from one thought to another. Sorry (but not too sorry). I have a degree in Psychology and am a proud owner of two amazing kittens Zeus and Momo, although thoroughly a dog person! I love cooking, I surely love eating, reading and exploring. I have created this blog with hope that I can lighten up the mid-week Wednesday with some Saturday chill vibes. Hopefully you enjoy your Saturdays On Wednesdays as much as I enjoy mine. With Love, G xoxo

  2. Just putting it out there, for any cream product I use a buffer brush. Then again, I use a buffer brush for most things… okay everything. I just use buffer brushes for my entire face.
Everything in this box looks so luxurious, this is amazing. That lipstick is frickin gorgeous, as is the liner.
You’re one very lucky lady, you! xxx

  3. I am so jealous!! Omg I want everything!!
And with the contour, I either apply with my finer and blend out with a brush or go straight in with a stippling brush depending how soft the cream is ☺️

      1. Haha yeah a soft brush will work fine ☺️ I used my beauty blender with the master contour stick and it blended well was just more hard work haha. Just go very light with it, creams are my fave because they’re so much easier to blend to make them look my natural

  4. Cohort boxes are so amazing every time! I’d love to see a post on your favorite sponges, and as for cream products, I just use my fingers. I love the Bobbi Brown and Nars in this box, such great brands!
